How we collect, use, share and protect information about the donors, participants, families, volunteers and visitors who trust us with it.
Shake-A-Leg Miami is committed to protecting the privacy of our donors, volunteers and mentors, staff, participants, and their families. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Last updated September 29, 2026.
This policy applies to Shake-A-Leg Miami, Inc. ("Shake-A-Leg Miami," "we," or "us") and to personal information we collect through shakealegmiami.org, donations by check or online, registration and application forms, sign-up sheets, email, phone calls, social media, and in person. It also covers what you give us through the online forms that other companies run for us.
By sharing personal information with Shake-A-Leg Miami or our staff, you agree to this policy and to our use of that information for the purposes described here. For some things we also ask for your permission on the form itself. Many of our registration forms ask you to accept our waiver and photography consent.
This policy also covers our staff when they donate, volunteer, or take part in our programs. It does not cover the records we keep about our employees as their employer, such as payroll and personnel files.
We collect information when you request information on our website, in person, by phone, or by mail; when you register or apply for a program, camp, course, event, outing, scholarship, or volunteer or mentor role; when you donate by mail or online; and when you send us a message or a story. If we collect information in a way not listed here, we will use it only as this policy describes.
What we collect depends on how you are involved with us. It may include:
We will never sell or trade your personal information. We never share donor information, gift amounts, or giving history with other organizations for their own fundraising or marketing.
Except in the cases below, we will not share personal information collected through our website, email, phone calls, programs, events, or any other activity with a third party unless you give us specific permission.
You can tell us at any time not to share your name, address, or other personal information outside Shake-A-Leg Miami, and we will honor it. That includes leaving your name off donor lists in our annual report and event materials. If you would rather be listed as anonymous, just let us know.
The only exceptions are the service providers and auditors who process or review your gift or registration for us, disclosures the law requires, and emergencies involving someone's safety.
To make a request, email info@shakealegmiami.org, call 305-858-5550, or write to us at the address below.
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, or ask us to delete information we are not required to keep. Some records must stay, such as signed waivers, incident reports, and tax and donation records.
We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within 30 days.
We send our newsletter, "What's Shaking?", and other email updates through HubSpot, which also runs many of our sign-up and registration forms. Every newsletter and marketing email we send through HubSpot has an unsubscribe link, and you can also ask us by email or phone to take you off the list. We honor requests within 10 business days, consistent with the federal CAN-SPAM Act.
Our email platform can tell us whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, so we can improve our updates.
Unsubscribing does not stop messages you need, such as donation receipts, registration confirmations, and safety or schedule notices. Some of these are sent for us by our donation and registration platforms.
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Like any website host, Webflow receives basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, when you visit.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use our site, such as which pages they view and which buttons and links they click. We use Google Tag Manager to run these tools and Google Ads to measure how well our ads work. When you type your email address into a form on our site, Google's ad tag may send a scrambled (hashed) copy of it to Google to help measure our ads.
We and third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to show you our ads on other websites based on your past visits to our site.
Our pages also load fonts and code from Google and from content delivery networks such as Cloudflare and Amazon CloudFront, a spam check on our forms (Cloudflare Turnstile), maps from Google Maps on some pages, and our embedded Fundly donation form. These services may receive your IP address or set their own cookies.
Our site does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
You can limit this tracking:
This policy covers what you give us through our donation, registration, application, and sign-up forms, even though other companies run them for us. Those companies' own privacy policies also apply to what they handle.
Online donations, scholarship applications, and some course registrations use secure forms from Fundly, which also keeps our donor records. Card payments on Fundly forms, including Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Link, are handled by its payment processor, Stripe.
Many program, camp, and course registrations, and some applications and donations, use Jotform, with card payments through Square. A few sign-ups use HubSpot or Microsoft Forms.
When you give or pay online, you enter your card number on these companies' secure forms, and Shake-A-Leg Miami does not receive or store your full card number.
We ask for disability, medical, and support information so we can serve each participant safely and well. Where a program depends on it, we also use it to decide eligibility, participant category or pricing, and scholarships.
We share it only with the staff and volunteers who need it to run the activity safely, with emergency responders when someone's safety is at risk, with our insurer if there is an incident, and when the law requires it.
We never use the health or disability details from your forms for fundraising or marketing. If a participant chooses to share their story, including anything about their disability, we publish it only with their permission, or a parent's or guardian's for a minor. We may report totals to funders, such as how many participants with disabilities we served, with no names attached.
Our website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13, consistent with the federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If you are under 13, please ask a parent before sending us anything through our website.
Parents and guardians register children for our camps and youth programs and sign their forms. Some camp forms also ask for the camper's own phone number or email address.
High school students can apply to be mentors. They fill out the application themselves, including their date of birth, school, and medical conditions, and a parent or guardian also signs it.
If we learn that a child under 13 has sent us personal information online without a parent's consent, we will delete it. Parents and guardians may review, correct, or ask us to delete their child's information, except records we must keep, such as signed waivers and incident reports.
We often photograph and film our programs and events. We share these images and participants' stories on our website, in our newsletter, and on social media, and we may use them in fundraising materials and reports to funders.
Many of our registration and application forms include a photography consent that you accept, or a parent or guardian accepts for a minor, when you register. It allows photos and videos for educational, research, documentary, public relations, and promotional purposes.
If you would like a photo, video, or story of you or your child taken down, contact us. We will remove it from our website and our social media accounts and leave it out of future materials, but we cannot recall printed pieces or emails already sent.
If you send us a story through our website, Webflow stores it for us. As the form explains, sending a story gives us permission to publish it on our website, and we will never publish a name you have not given us.
We keep personal information as long as we need it for the purposes above, or longer when the law, our auditors, or our insurers require it, as with tax and donation records. When it is no longer needed, we delete it or securely destroy it.
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information, including:
If we learn that personal information has been accessed without authorization, we will look into it and notify the people affected as the law requires, including Florida law.
No system is completely secure. If you believe your information has been misused, please contact us right away.
Our site links to other websites, such as YouTube, social media, and partner organizations. Their own privacy policies govern what they collect, so we encourage you to read them.
We may update this policy from time to time and will post each new version on this page with a new effective date. A change to this policy will never be used to start selling or trading your information. This policy replaces our 2022 privacy policy.
