Working For You!

What an amazing day it was here at Shake-A-Leg Miami (SALM) on July 5^th as State Representative Vicki Lopez joined our campers for a day of laughter, fun and engagement. Vicki Lopez serves as a Republican member for the 113th district of the Florida House of Representatives. Her expertise on education and underserved communities has allowed her to help SALM secure over $500K in funding for our newly developed Marine Vocational Program. We are extremely grateful for this opportunity and for Vicki believing in our organization’s mission.  

During Vicki’s visit here at SALM, she had the opportunity to meet and speak with several staff and campers about their experiences at SALM. Her infectious smile and aura immediately made everyone gravitate toward her. Leggers wanted to tell her all about their sailing, kayaking, team building activities and soft motor skills they learn here during summer camp. As she wanted to learn more about what we have to offer here at SALM, she visited our staff in the workshop to discuss the equipment and skills they provide to the participants that come through our programs year-round.  

From the hugs to high-fives Vicki has been named an honorary “Legger” for life!
