Shake-A-Leg Miami was honored to welcome Their Majesties, Queen Maxima and King Willhem-Aleander of the Netherlands, for a meaningful and memorable visit centered around shared values of accessibility, innovation, and a love for the sea.
The visit was inspired by a special project created by participants in our Maritime and Hospitality Vocational Program (MHVP). This program empowers adults and veterans with disabilities by equipping them with the practical skills for careers in marine and hospitality industries. As part of this initiative, participants handcrafted a wooden plaque for Their Majesties vessel. More thana. Gift, this plaque symbolizes our commitment to fostering inclusivity and expanding access to life on the water.
During their time at Shake-A-Leg, Their Majesties attended a maritime industry meeting hoste at our facility. The gathering brought together leaders and partners; strengthening connections and reinforcing a shared vision for the future of the maritime community. It was a privilege to serve as the backdrop for such impactful conversations!
Following the meeting, Their Majesties toured our campus, including our docks, where they experience firsthand the adaptive sailing programs that define Shake-A-Leg. From specialized quipment to hands-on instruction, our programs are designed to ensure that individuals of all abilities can safely and confidently access the water.
Hosting Their Majesties and their delegation was truly an honor. Their visit not only highlighted their importance of inclusive recreation and vocational training, but also affirmed the global impact of creating spaces where everyone belongs. We are grateful for the opportunity to share our mission and showcase the life-changing work happening every day at Shake-A-Leg Miami!
