SALM Has Partnered With Dharma Yoga
Since October of 2021, Shake-A-Leg Miami has partnered with Dharma Yoga Studio to provide yoga classes to those with disabilities, elders, and even minors. Due to the pandemic, the Dharma Yoga Studio has become remote, engaging in classes via zoom. However, about every week Dharma hosts yoga sessions at Shake-A-Leg from 6 pm to 7 pm. These classes take
place on the third floor of the building, overlooking Biscayne Bay. This addition to the Shake-A-Leg calendar has greatly benefitted the community.
Participants of Dharma Yoga have become aware of the goals in which the Shake-A-Leg community aims and vice-a-versa. Dharma Yoga strives to stimulate harmony in the mind, body, and environment. Bringing this energy to Shake-A-Leg has made for a calmer, more peaceful environment. Devoted students to Dharma Yoga love the scenery from Shake-A-Leg. Instructor Natalie has expressed her appreciation for this partnership:
“We are so thankful that Shake-A-Leg has invited us to conduct classes from their home. The view from here is surreal. This location is ideal and ultimately allows us to take a step away from our hectic life in reality. This is a time to focus on ourselves, clear our minds, and release body tension.”
Instructor Natalie is very loved by her students and has built strong connections with her students. Her devoted elderly students have become very advanced in the art of Yoga. Their abilities have flourished, being able to do headstands, standing poses, and twists. Dharma Yoga has expanded Shake-A-Leg, providing them with yet another land activity to enhance their community towards a sense of zen. The partnership of the positive environments has created the ideal setting for members of Shake-A-Leg as well as the members of the Dharma Yoga Studio. Both organizations are beyond appreciative of the connection and coordination they have accomplished. They have expanded positive, beneficial opportunities to members of the two organizations.
