All of us at Shake-A-Leg Miami hope that you and your loved ones remain healthy during this challenging time. We trust you are doing all you can to stay safe as we all take unprecedented measures to curb the spread of COVID-19.
This pandemic is paralyzing…
It’s similar to a spinal cord injury. Suddenly, you can’t move and are in a world of uncertainty. What is life going to be like in the future? How will I get through this? Can I get a job and be independent?
Overcoming physical and emotional paralysis is difficult, but it can be achieved. Thousands of people with disabilities and their families find their way each year.
To overcome any crisis requires love, support, and encouragement from family and friends alongside support from experts who diagnose the issue and create a recovery plan. The support enables us to strive to deal with a new reality and aspire to realize dreams.
With global brain power and resources focused on containing and curing COVID-19, we will get through this pandemic storm. Being patient, healthy, and active will make us more resilient as we enter back into society.
Our mission at Shake-A-Leg is to use the water to help people improve their health, education, independence, and quality of life. We believe water has healing qualities. And we provide access to Biscayne Bay, a source of Miami’s magic.
Although we have temporarily closed the facility and programs, our staff and board are mobilized from their homes, preparing for the day the pandemic passes. We are hoping and praying that the pandemic abates in time for kids to enjoy summer camp, veterans to get back on the water, and all of us can continue helping each other feel better and resume our lives with the belief a bright future is coming.
When the time is right, we invite you, all our participants and community members, to join us for complementary sails to fill your lungs and spirits with the healing qualities of sailing on Biscayne Bay.
If there is anything we can do for you, please contact us.
Thank you for your ongoing support. We look forward to staying in touch.
P.S. We are all experiencing challenges during this time of uncertainty. Our team is preparing to have programs back in action once the pandemic passes. Please contact us if we can help you in any way.
