NOTICE OF RACE

Shake-A-Leg Miami  

“MID WINTER REGATTA”
MAY 23-24, 2009

1. RULES:
The regatta will be governed by the 2009-2012 International Yacht Racing Rules and the prescriptions of U S Sailing (Except as altered by the Sailing Instructions).

2. CLASSES:
The following classes are invited to participate in the event:

Freedom Independence: (Open Class) – Minimum 3 people/boat required – (helm and jib chair must remain seated)

Sonars – Minimum 3 people/boat required

Skud 18’

J-24

PHRF

Access Single and Double 2.3/3.3 (Open class)

Sunfish

3. REGISTRATION: There must be a minimum of 4 boats to designate a class in the regatta.  Freedoms and Access Dinghy 2.3/303 will be available for charter from Shake-A-Leg Miami for qualified teams.  (A $500 Damage Deposit is required per team to charter the vessel.)  All other vessels are private use.  Registration is on a first-come first-serve basis.  Registration can be done online at: www.shakealegmiami.org/midwinterregatta

4. FEES:  ENTRY FEES for each class are as follows:

FREEDOM = $150 (includes boat charter)

SONAR = $125

SKUD-18 = $100

2.4 Mr = $75

J-24 = $150

PHRF=$150

ACCESS DINGHY 2.3/303 DBL = $100 (own boat) $125 (boat charter)

ACCESS DINGHY 2.3/303 SGL = $75 (own boat) $100 (boat charter)

Sunfish - $75 (own boat), $100 (boat charter)

5 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

SATURDAY, MARCH  – 14TH DAY OF RACING

8:30 am-Registration and Continental Breakfast                                                                                 

9:30 am- Skippers Meeting

11:15am – 1st Warning

--Lunch provided for all racers

6:00 pm – Dinner

 

SUNDAY, MARCH 15TH  – 2nd DAY OF RACING

8:30am – Continental Breakfast

--Lunch provided for all racers

10:15am- 1st Warning

--No Signals after 4:00 pm.

5:00 pm- BBQ Cookout and Awards Ceremony           

6. WAIVER OF LIABILITY:
Each competitor must sign a PARTICIPANT CONSENT FORM  (available at REGISTRATION) to qualify entry.

7. SCORING:
The Low-Point Scoring System, Appendix A22 of the racing rules shall apply with a maximum of nine races scheduled of which six shall be completed to constitute a series.

8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: The Sailing Instructions will be available at THE SKIPPERS MEETING.

9. COURSES: The Courses shall be described in the Sailing Instructions

10. ALTERNATIVE PENALTY:  Reference Rule 44.2 as amended to read a tack and a jibe turn penalty shall apply.

11. AWARDS:  Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each fleet.
