Cynthia Shelley, Art Center Manager
Cynthia draws from her experiences as an artist, her summer
college job as the Art Director of a children’s camp in the
Berkshires, and her studies of child psychology, to create an
exciting ecologically responsible program encompassing the
nature and environment of Biscayne Bay. Her program is
designed to include academic benchmarks (science and math)
within the art projects so that the students are exposed to
experiential learning, a most effective style of teaching not
often used in a conventional school setting. The students are
immersed in the natural surroundings and the subject of their
art reflects their ‘hands on’ Biscayne Bay marine experiences
and observations. |
