SHAKE-A-LEG MIAMI ADDS TWO NEW SAILBOATS TO ITS
FLEET – DONATED BY FORD MOTOR COMPANY FUND AND
THE CARMAX FOUNDATION

Holiday Giving Prevails, in Spite of the Slow Economy

Boats christened as “Lady Teresa” and “Mustang Sally” in
Traditional Christening Ceremony

Coconut Grove, FL - December 17, 2008 – Shake-A-Leg Miami christened two new sailboats yesterday morning, thanks to the generous donations of Ford Motor Company Fund’s Operation Goodwill program in South Florida and The CarMax Foundation. Each sailboat is a new 2009 model Hunter 216, identically equipped with latest options, including the first spinnakers in the Shake-A-Leg Miami fleet. These day sailors will be used in Shake-A-Leg Miami’s youth and adult sailing courses; regattas and their popular corporate team-building events.

The CarMax boat was christened the Lady Teresa and the Ford boat was christened Mustang Sally in a traditional christening ceremony officiated by Captain Lou Rodriguez this morning. Teresa Fowler, Regional Giving Committee Chairperson of the CarMax Florida Region and CarMax Location General Manager in Fort Lauderdale was the Godmother of Lady Teresa while Heather Strom, Zone A Manager, Ford Lincoln Mercury Sales Operation, Florida Market was the Godmother of Mustang Sally. Both Godmothers had the honor of breaking a bottle of champagne on the bow of her vessel.

“The continued success of Shake-A-Leg Miami, and our ability to provide a gateway to Biscayne Bay for people of all backgrounds and abilities, depends on the generous contributions of donors like Ford Motor Company Fund and The CarMax Foundation,” said Harry R. Horgan, Co-Founder and CEO of Shake-A-Leg Miami. “With their support, we can realize our vision of reaching more kids and adults with more programs, launching boats and dreams every day.”

“Ford Motor Company has been, and will continue to be a supportive corporate citizen in the community,” said Jim Vella, president, Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services. “We are proud to be actively committed to South Florida through the Operation Goodwill program and we are pleased to be a part of Shake-A-Leg Miami’s educational programs,” added Vella.

“The CarMax Foundation is committed to funding programs that show measurable results and benefits to the community,” said Teresa Fowler, Regional Giving Committee Chairperson of the CarMax Florida Region and CarMax Location General Manager in Fort Lauderdale. “Many CarMax employees volunteer at Shake-A-Leg Miami, which has become a good team building opportunity for us.”

Each boat can accommodate up to six sailors and will be adapted by Shake-A-Leg Miami to accommodate disabled sailors with their unique patented helm and crew seat design. In recognition of their donations, one will carry Ford Motor Company Fund’s logo on its sail, and the other The CarMax Foundation logo.
