Shake-A-Leg Miami

April 22, 2008

On April 22, 2008, Alberto Ibarguen, President and CEO of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, Erik Weihenmayer, the only blind person to have climbed the world’s “seven summits,” and Harry Horgan, co-founder of Shake-A-Leg Miami, the nation’s largest, fully accessible watersports center, met for lunch. Three men with big ideas shared a vision of social change to powemer individuals with disabilities. The luncheon was a call to action to an additional 125 guests from Miami’s business, government, education, philanthropic and social profit sectors. The call challenged individuals to focus on the truly visionary aspects of their own lives and leverage their time, talent or treasure to fuel Shake-A-Leg Miami and help individuals with disabilities launch their dreams, paint bright futures, and summit the peaks that will create an equitable landscape for all.
