NOTICE OF RACE

Shake-A-Leg Miami

“SPRING INTO SUMMER REGATTA”

1. RULES:
The regatta will be governed by the 2005-2008 International Yacht Racing Rules and the prescriptions of U S Sailing (Except as altered by the Sailing Instructions).

2. CLASSES:
The following classes are invited to participate in the event:

  1. Freedom Independence: (Open Class) – Minimum 3 people/boat required
  2. Sonars  (Open Class - Paralympic Trim) – Minimum 3 people/boat required
  3. Skud 18’ (Open Class - Paralympic Trim)
  4. 2.4 mR
  5. O’Pen BIC Dinghy (Under 11 years old/Open Class)
  6. Access Single and Double 2.3/3.3 (Open class) 
  7. J-24
  8. PHRF
  9. Windsurfers

3. REGISTRATION: There must be a minimum of 4 boats to designate a class in the regatta.  Freedoms and Access Dinghy 2.3/303 and O’Pen BIC will be available for charter from Shake-A-Leg Miami for qualified teams.  (A $500 Damage Deposit is required per team to charter the vessel.)  All other vessels are private use.  Registration is on a first-come first-serve basis.  Registration can be done online at: www.shakealegmiami.org.

FEES:  ENTRY FEES for each class are as follows:

  1. J-24 = $25 (sailing only)
  2. J-24 $120 (includes all sailing and social activities)
  3. PHRF=$160 (max. 4 people)  additional sailors need to purchase social ticket
  4. O’Pen BIC (Under 11 Year Old/Open Class) = $95 (Includes boat charter) or $40 (bring your own boat)
  5. Sunfish - $95 (boat charter), $40 (own boat)
  6. SONAR = $120 (3 people max) additional people need to purchase social tickets
  7. Windsurfers = $40
  8. FREEDOM = $120
  9. ACCESS DINGHY 2.3/303  DBL = $80 
  10. ACCESS DINGHY 2.3/303 SGL =  $40

 

5 SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:

SATURDAY, MAY 31ST  – 1st DAY OF RACING
8:00 am-Registration
8:30 am – Continental Breakfast                                                                                                            
9:30 am- Skippers Meeting
11:30am – 1st Warning
--Lunch provided for all racers
6:00 pm – Dinner

SUNDAY, MARCH 9TH – 2nd DAY OF RACING
8:00 am- Registration
8:30am – Continental Breakfast
--Lunch provided for all racers
11:15am- 1st Warning
--No Signals after 4:00 pm.
5:00 pm- Dinner
6:00 pm-Awards Ceremony       
**Awards ceremony to follow all races

6. WAIVER OF LIABILITY:
Each competitor must sign a PARTICIPANT CONSENT FORM  (available at REGISTRATION) to qualify entry.

7. SCORING:
The Low-Point Scoring System, Appendix A22 of the racing rules shall apply with a maximum of nine races scheduled of which six shall be completed to constitute a series.

8. SAILING INSTRUCTIONS: The Sailing Instructions will be available at THE SKIPPERS MEETING.

9. COURSES: The Courses shall be described in the Sailing Instructions

10. ALTERNATIVE PENALTY:  Reference Rule 44.2 as amended to read a tack and a jibe turn penalty shall apply.

11. AWARDS:  Trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each fleet.
