All camp activities -- sailing, art, music, snorkeling,, photography, science, nature walks, Swimming and kayaking --  are based on an ecological curriculum.

Trained counselors in each field supervise.

· While campers snorkel amongst the sea grass, they observe animals in their  native habitat and learn to identify different species of sea  plants.

· Children collect tiny specimens either by dragging a net behind their kayak or simply wading near the mangroves. Un seen discoveries reveal  themselves under a microscope.

· Campers collect and press leaves, creating individual  journals in which each child records and imagines their own island  experiences.

 · Sea shells, coconuts, and driftwood all become art objects. Children hand-craft jewelry and carve bamboo into flutes. They explore music by making and playing percussion instruments.

· Campers learn how to collect and filter water for their small  garden or an out door shower.

· Children study solar and wind energy and build a life-sized raft from  found and recycled materials.

· They make Indian pottery, construct a teepee, and weave twigs and  grass on ancient- style looms.

All these experiences and more will make Shake-aALeg’s Eco- Island adventure camp a summer to treasure!
